ALVAH A. CARROLL JR., 75, of Memphis, retired Certified Public Accountant, died of cancer Saturday at AMI St. Francis Nursing Home. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with burial in Memorial Park. Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel has charge. He was a graduate of University of Memphis Law School. He was a World War II veteran and received a Bronze Star. He was past president of Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants and of the Memphis chapter, he served on the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy and was a life member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Carroll, the husband of Claire Albonetti Carroll for 55 years, also leaves two daughters, Patricia Sexton of Memphis and Sherry Condon of Nashville; a son, Mark Carroll of College Park, Ga.; his mother, Lilla Ricks of Memphis, and six grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to the Dwelling Place at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. (Published in The Commercial Appeal on November 20, 1994)
