Mildred Alice Ashburn, 80, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Sweetwater Hospital.

A native and resident of McMinn County most of her life, she was the daughter of the late James Arzo and Eva Lou Vaugh Carroll. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by five brothers, L.V. Carroll, Ed Carroll, Marvin Carroll, Clayton Carroll, and Theodore Carroll; and one sister; Juanita Hancock.

Survivors include her husband of 11 years, Jack Ashburn of Athens; six daughters and three sons-in-law, Connie and Joe Barich of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Brenda and John Crisp of Strawberry Plains, Victoria Breeden of Athens, Donna and Glen Compton of Corryton, Crystal (Sissy) and Mark Sliger of Athens, and Megyn Langford of Athens; two sons, Ronnie and Darlene Everhart of Kodak, and Robert and Debbie Everhart of Etowah; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; and three sisters, Imogene Roberts of Washington State, Jeri Carroll of Florida, and Lee Edwards of Madisonville.

Funeral services were 7 p.m. Sunday, May 1, in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Sliger and Donnie Dalton officiating.

The graveside service was 10 a.m. Monday, May 2, in Cochran Cemetery in Englewood.

Pallbearers were Brandon Johnson, Jason Cooley, Alex Cooley, Garrett Plemons, Ronnie Everhart, John Crisp Glen Compton and Robert Everhart..

The family received friends Sunday before the service from 5 to 7 pm. at the funeral home.

Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home of Athens was in charge of the arrangements.
