Alvin Johnson Cash, 71, of Clinton, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at his home. He was born in Knoxville, the son of Milton and Sadie Cash, who are deceased. Mr. Cash was a professional photographer and entered the newspaper business in Fountain City. He moved to Kingston in 1963 to join the staff of the Roane County News, where he worked for over 10 years. He was an active member of the Roane County Volunteer Fire Department and the Kingston Auxiliary Police for many years. He family said he became one of the first emergency medical technicians in Tennessee and began a career at the Roane County Ambulance Service for several years. He later moved to the Anderson County Ambulance Service, and retired after 20 years. For several years he was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Mr. Cash was a member of Little Brick Presbyterian Church. Mr. Cash is survived by his wife, Ilene Cash; his sons, Martin Cash and is wife, Diana, Michael Cash and his wife, Pam, and Barry Cash and his wife, Debby; his stepchildren, Susan Wry, Angela Barnes and her husband, Roger, Jim Wry and his wife, Paula, David Wry, and Karen Campbell and her husband, Robbie; and his grandchildren, Stephanie Cash, Martin Cash Jr., Michael Cash Jr., Karrie Cash and Whitney Carney; his step-grandchildren, Chris Wry, Nichole Wry, John Wry, Jennifer Wry, Jeremy Campbell, Kara Campbell, Nicholas Barnes, Scottie Jones and Sara Jones; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Cash III and Sierra Fairchild. In addition to this parents, Mr. Cash was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Frances Sexton Cash; and a grandson, Dwight Fairchild. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, in the chapel of Rose Mortuary, 1421 Broadway N.E., Knoxville, with the Rev. Roger Nance officiating. Burial will follow at Lynnhurst Cemetery in Knoxville. Current and former employees of the Anderson County Ambulance Service will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the mortuary.
