Son of Thomas Francis Cassidy and Sarah Jane Cassidy of 23 William Street, Redfern, New South Wales. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 29 September 1914 and embarked from Sydney for active service abroad on 18 October 1914 per HMAT "Afric" (A19). He was twice wounded in action and killed in action, aged 24 years.
