New Rochelle's Albina Castellano dies at 89

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Albina Castellano, a longtime New Rochelle resident, died March 3. She was 89.

She was born May 29, 1922, in San Fili, Cosenza, Italy, to the late Michele and Cristina Cesario. On June 10, 1940, she married Serafino Castellano and worked for several years at the Arnold Constable Store in New Rochelle. Castellano then worked for the American White Cross Factory. She was also a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in New Rochelle.

Castellano is survived by her daughter, Fulvia (Frank) Pugliese, her sons, Dario (Ingrid) Castellano and Michael (Pat) Castellano, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Serafino, on June 6, 1967, as well as her brother Joseph Cesario and her sister Mirella Castellano.

Visiting hours are from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel in New Rochelle. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Church, followed by entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in New Rochelle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.
