Mrs. Akers was born Feb. 24, 1886, in Virginia, the daughter of Fletcher and Rilla (Houseman) Cecil. She married Clark Akers in Bristol, Tenn. June 30, 1904 and he preceded her in death in 1956.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Flora and a member of Rebekah Lodge IOOF, and past president of the Flora Garden Club.
Survivors include two sons, Edgar, Flora; Frank, Ft. Worth, Texas; five daughters, Mrs. Paul (Hazel) Densford, Sun City, Az.; Mrs. Clarence (Ruth) Huck, Evansville, Ind.; Mrs. Clarence (Virginia) Henry, Granite City; Mrs. Andy (Janice) Nichols, Salem; Mrs. Jack (Carol) Presley, Russellville, Ark.; 28 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons, and two daughters.
