It is with heavy hearts that we the children of William C. Cessna announce to all our family and friends the passing of our Father on January 25, 2013. He was born on March 20, 1935, to the union of Hazel and Chester Cessna. He was the oldest of four children, followed by two brothers, Donald and Fred, and "Kid Sister" Carol.

In 1953 just prior to entering the Marine Corps, he met the love of his life Marilyn Jean Kwiatkowski. An injury while serving in the Marines left him hospitalized for most of a year. Upon returning home he pursued and won her heart. On September 20, 1956, Bill and Marilyn married and together they raised four children, Susan, Michael, Steven and Jaqueline. Mom and Dad spent 49 happy years together surrounded by family and friends. For forty-six years they resided in Toledo, OH. In 2003 they moved "up North" in the home they built for retirement.

Our Dad was a gentle soul and loved helping others. His greatest joy was that of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memory children, Susan (George) Bliss of Levering, MI, Michael Cessna of Toledo, OH, Steven Cessna of Erie, MI and Jaqueline Yarberry of Swanton, OH; grandchildren, Barb, Joshua, Lindsay, Jacob, Steven, Christopher, Kelsey, Jennifer, Julie, Mary and Becky; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are brothers, Donald (Joey) Cessna of Fort Meyers, FL, Fred Cessna of Wildomar, CA; sister, Carol (James) Craig of Royal Oak, MI, and special sisters-in-law, Judy Schoch of Toledo, OH and Hazel June Bliss of Levering, MI. We can only imagine the joyful family reunion when he joined his wife, Marilyn; grandson, Daniel Cessna; parents, Hazel and Chester Cessna; mother and father-in-law, Ursula and Virgil Siwa; brother-in-law, Richard Schoch, and sisters-in-law, Gerry Cessna and Judy Cessna.

Per William's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013, from 1-4 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd.
