She had a great love for Padre Island and worked actively toward it becoming a National Seashore. She was the wife of former Channel 10 News Director, Ken Cessna.

Alice (Chappell) Cessna, 66, of 133 Weal Vanderbilt in Corpus Christi, died Monday July 9, 1984, at her home. She was born in Cuero, Texas, and was reared in Gonzalez, Texas. She had been a resident of Corpus Christi since 1944. She was a retired real estate agent from Hunsaker Realtors and was a former professional model and hairdresser. During her lifetime she was very actively involved in Democratic Party politics and was an active participant in Lyndon B. Johnson's campaigns as well as the campaigns of her son Dave Chappell, Nueces County Treasurer. She had a great love for Padre Island and worked actively toward it becoming a National Seashore. She is a former member of the Southside Lions Club and member of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps. She was tha wife of former Channel 10 News Director Ken Cessna, who is presently Assistant County Court Administrator. She is survived by her husband, Ken Cessna, one son, David Chappell, both of Corpus Christi; one sister, Mrs. Irene Robertson of Rockdale, Texas; four brothers, Fred Estes of Houston, Texas, Jim Estes of Henderson, Texas, Charles Estes of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Dan Estes of Bay City, Texas; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted at 3 pm Tuesday at the Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard D. Roach of the Forrest Park Baptist Church officiating. Eulogy will be delivered by District Judge Jack Blackman. Entombment will follow in Seaside Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be John Frank and Jimmie Schober, Rodger Tumbenson, Charles M. Estes, and Danny Estes. The District and County Court at Law judges will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, family members wish donations be made to the Lions Eye Bank of South Texas. Seaside Funeral Home at Santa Fe and Robert.
