Lois Elizabeth Chaplin Andelin, 73, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 peacefully in San Jose, CA as a result of a stroke. Lois was born on November 1, 1939 in Rantowles, Charleston, South Carolina, to William Elijah Chaplin Jr. and Elsie Mae Outzs.

She spent her childhood in South Carolina. She was valedictorian and homecoming queen of her high school graduating class. After high school, she attended Brigham Young University. She studied physics until she married Leslie Hart Andelin on August 31, 1957 in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Lois raised her children in San Jose, California where she lived until her death. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She also worked as an executive secretary. As an active member of the LDS church, she loved the scriptures and served in various callings throughout her life.

Lois was an expert genealogist. She spoke at many seminars and helped find many lost ancestors. Genealogy is what she loved! She also enjoyed reading, movies, Sudoku and vanilla ice cream with strawberries.

She is survived by her: ex-husband Hart Andelin, children: Richard (Amy) Andelin, Janice (Greg) Green and Thomas (Meesa) Andelin and 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughters: Carrie and Nancy.

Funeral service will be held Friday, November 30, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Spring Creek 5th Ward, 860 E. 2nd North, Springville, UT. A viewing will be held from 1:00 to 1:45 at the church prior to the funeral. Interment will be at the Provo Cemetery.
