"Mrs. Helen Chase Brown passed away Saturday morning, the 12th, at her home in Schenevus after twelve years of invalidism from rheumatism. A paralytic shock was the immediate cause of death. Mrs. Brown, who was born in 1841, spent her entire life in Schenevus with the exception of three years at Cooperstown. She married Harvey W. Brown who was a major during the Civil War and who died about 25 years ago. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Woman's Relief Corps and one of the oldest residents of Schenevus. Her wonderful patience and cheerfulness in her sufferings gained for her many friends. Surviving are two daughters, Ella M. and Elizabeth of Schenevus, and one son, Hamilton, of Buffalo. The funeral services were held from her home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. A. W. Cooper of the Methodist Episcopal church officiating, with interment in the Schenevus cemetery."
