"SCHENEVUS. Grover T. Chase - The town of Maryland and particularly the village of Schenevus is greatly saddened by the untimely passing of Grover T. Chase, one of the most promising citizens ... After submitting to an operation for the relief of appendicitis on Monday morning at the Parshall Hospital in Oneonta, Mr. Chase steadily lost ground until death occurred about 5 o'clock Thursday afternoon of last week. His condition was considered critical from the start and even in his weakened condition he showed fortitude and courage up to the last. He was the eldest of three children of George W. and Estella (Webster) Chase, and was born at Elk Creek May 6, 1886. A sister, Leta, died October 27, 1922, at the age of 32 years. An only brother, Webster Chase of Herkimer survives as does his father. He was a member of the Methodist church, ... president of the Schenevus Publishing company, Inc., justice of the peace of the town of Maryland, a former supervisor of the town, and clerk of the incorporated village of Schenevus. He was united in marriage to Flora Perry, May 29, 1907, and is survived by his widow and two children, Paul and Edna, residing at home, also two nephews and two nieces, Alberta Perry of Worcester, and Betty, Charles and Webster Chase, Jr., of Herkimer ..."
