Mrs. J. M. Bennett

Jennie A. Chase, wife of James Morrell Bennett of Amsterdam, died at a hospital in that city, Wednesday, March 13th, at about 7 p.m. of acute diabetes. She had not been in good health for some months, but able to be about most of the time until Monday of last week when she was taken worse and taken to the hospital Tuesday for treatment. From the time she entered the hospital she failed rapidly until the end came. Her remains were brought to the home of her son, Perry R. Bennett in Milford village Friday afternoon, and funeral services held from his home Saturday at 10:30 a.m., the Rev. N.B. Ripley, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church of Milford officiating, with interment in the Milford Cemetery.
She was the daughter of Nathan I., and Louise Denman Chase and was born at Flycreek, October 20th 1852m and was sixty-five years, four months and twenty-one days old at the time of her death.
She was married to James Morrell Bennett at the home of her parents in the Town of Laurens, February 3rd 1873 and he survives her. To this untion were born four sons and two daughters, all of which survive. The sons are Perry R. Bennett of Milford, Fred M. Bennett of Fultonville, Earl Bennett of Stittville, Oneida Co., and Leon Bennett of Amsterdam. The daughters are, Bertha, the wife of Fred L. Armstrong of Cherry Valley, and Stella, the wife of Irving Brazeau, of Asotin, Washington, who are left to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother. She also leave five grandchildren, and two brothers. The brothers are William N. Chase of Portlandville and Frank J. Chase of Goldfield, Nevada. Mrs. C.E. Coldvurn of Milford who died about ten years ago was a sister. In her younger years Mrs. Bennett was a fine musician, and taught both vocal and instrumental music for many years.
