"SCHENEVUS - Mrs. Edith (Tice) Chase, widow of Tyler M. Chase, passed away at her home in this village at 2 o'clock Sunday morning, June 9th. Mrs. Chase had been in poor health for some time but had been able to be out of doors and around the house. She was stricken by an embolism. Mrs. Chase survived her husband by only a few months. She was born June 18, 1867, at Seward, the daughter of Levi and Martha (Boorn) Tice. During her younger years she served as primary teacher in various district schools and the Schenevus Academy. She married Tyler Chase August 18, 1888 and had lived in this village since that time ... She is survived by three sons, Sawyer T. of Earlville, Ford of Owego and John of Worcester; three daughters, Clara and Bernice Chase of Oxford, and Miss Nia Chase of this village; one brother, Fred E. Tice of Maryland; and six grandchidlren. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Tillapaugh Funeral home. The Rev. Alfred J. Miller of Oneonta, rector of the Church of the Holy Spirit, assisted by the Rev. D. M. Corkwell, pastor of the Schenevus Methodist church, officiated ... Interment was made in the Schenevus cemetery. The bearers were John H. Wild, Leo B. Bennett, Edward E. Boardman, Charles S. Staley, Richard Meed and Fred Smith."
