Rebecca Chase born in town of Stowe, Summit Co., Ohio, daughter of James and Lavina (Barnes) Chase, they removed from Ohio to Illinois and thence Dane Co., WI.

Her brother David Ransom Chase settled in Trempealeau County about 1859, He mustered at Dane County in 21 Sept 1864 and was killed in Civil War on 2 Feb 1865 at Battle of Salkahuchie, SC. Her other brother Joy H Chase (1834-1901) also a civil war veteran, died in Summit City, MI.

A sister Salome (John) Warner (1828-1893) moved to Allen County, Indiana.

A cousin Mary Ann Chase (FAG #7383926) married Luman Bowers (brother of her husband) and they moved to New Auburn, WI

Married Russell Bowers in Columbia Co and when Mr. and Mrs. Bowers came to Tremp County they were accompanied by Mrs. Bowers parents (Chase), who settled on an adjoining farm. The parents removed to Barron County, where the father James Chase died. The mother Lavina Chase, lived with daughter Salome in Indiana in 1880 census and lived with her son, Joy H. Chase, near Traverse City, MI at age of 91 years.

Russell Bowers, the popular postmaster at Hamlin settled on his current property on June 22, 1857.

Mr. and Mrs. Bowers have eight children. They lost four children in early life.

2) Ernest S (1858-1867) buried Hamlin
3) Frederick W (1860-1932), lived in Sumner and Albion entire life

6) George R Bowers (1866-1934) (lived in Sumner/Albion entire life)
7) Martha Jane "Jennie" (Frank) Lawler of Sumner, b. 1869
