Funeral services for Julia Doris Berg will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau with a devotional service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Julia D. (Christianson) Berg, the daughter of Otto and Otilie (Dahl) Christianson, was born in Roseau, MN on April 14, 1913. She attended school in Roseau, and graduated from Roseau High School. She then attended Bemidji State University for two years.

On September 25, 1937, she and Oscar Berg were united in marriage. They lived in Wannaska where they farmed. They had three children, Bernice, Lou Ella, and Norm. In 1968, the family moved to Grand Forks where Julia was employed by the Valley Memorial Home as Manager of Housekeeping for several years. In 1972, they moved back to the Roseau area.

Julia was a remarkable woman. Although her primary focus was her family, she found time for numerous hobbies. She was naturally very artistic and creative. She enjoyed oil painting, woodcarving, ceramics, quilting and cooking. Julia also enjoyed writing poetry. She always enjoyed traveling with her children to various destinations. Julia loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Julia Berg passed away on December 17, 2007 at the LifeCare Roseau Manor. She was 94 years old.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; brothers: Harry, Julius, Roy, and Brado; sisters, Myra Brateng, Sigrud Danielson, Christine Christianson, and Esther Jaros; and daughter-in-law, Sally Berg. Blessed be her memory.
