Oxford, CT: Elizabeth (Clare) Bell, 80, formerly of Stamford, CT, passed away on November 3, 2012 in Oxford, CT. She was the wife of the late James R. Bell. Betsy was born on August 7, 1932 in Rochester, NY to the late Elmer and Bessie (Nesbitt) Clare. In 1963, the Bell family relocated to Stamford, CT where Betsy raised her family, worked at BJS Print Shop and retired from Fleet Bank. She spent her spare time enjoying her grandchildren, her cats, working on puzzles and following basketball. Betsy is survived by her daughters Linda Martin and her husband Rick of Oxford, and Karen Christensen of Oxford, with whom she resided. Betsy is also survived by her grandchildren, Travis Martin of Naugatuck, Britta Christensen of Waterbury, Jessica Christensen of Beacon Falls, and Kayla Martin of Henrico, VA, her brother-in-law Carl Baxter of Pittsford, NY, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Vernon and Shirley Bell of Fairport, NY, and several nieces, nephews, friends and her devoted cat, Red. She is also survived by Ama Ampomah, her caregiver for the last 4 years. Words cannot express the gratitude and love the family has for Ama and her devotion to Mom.

She was predeceased by her sister Ellen (Clare) Baxter.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Betsy's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , PO Box 96011, Washington DC 20090-6011 or to the Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, UT 84741
