MRS. AGNES CLARK, 74, 65 YEARS HERE, IS DEAD

Came to State with Band of 250 Followers of Brigham Young.

CAME BY STEAMER

Mrs. Agnes Clark, 74, who for 65 years has been a resident of Omaha and who in 1863 was a member of a band of 250 persons who came from Sweden to Nebraska with Brigham Young, died at her residence here, 1323 South Twenty-eighth street, Saturday night.

The death of Mrs. Clark leaves her sister, Mrs. Betsy Swanson, who lives at the same address, as the only member of the original band of immigrants now in Nebraska. The two sisters, with the other members of the group, came to Nebraska by steamboat from St. Louis shortly after their arrival in the United States, taking up their residence at Florence. They were accompanied by their parents.

A short time later Brigham Young took his companions to Utah, where they established a Morman settlement. Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Swanson, however, soon returned to Nebraska, establishing their residence here.

In addition to her sister, Mrs. Clark is survived by six sons, John, Clarence, William, Ross, Hyland and Glenn, and one daughter, Mrs. Frank BeLoyed, all of Omaha.

The body will lie in state at the residence until 1:30 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held from Grace Lutheran church at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
