A native of Granville County, she was the daughter of the late James L. and Sabelia B. Clark.

She was preceded in death by two brothers; James Clark and Claude Clark, six sisters; Alice Wilson, Elsie Montague, Thelma Wilkins, Mildred Mulchi and her twin sister, Joyce Corosu.
