He was survived by his widow, Anne Duncan Clay, and two sons, Douglas, Jr., and John Buchanan Clay. Douglas, Jr., married Jane Clark Clay and they have no children. John married Jennie J. Clay and they have two children, Sally Anne and Jane B. Clay, both infants under 14 years of age and their mother is their statutory guardian.
