Mrs. Ann Clinch Cheek, age 82, of Pinnacle passed away Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015. She was born in Forsyth County to the late Richard Thomas Clinch and Marie Viola Berry. She was a graduate of R. J. Reynolds High School.

Mrs. Cheek was a sales clerk for several companies, including Watkins Bookstore in Winston-Salem. At Watkins, she specialized in the selling of books and fine writing instruments. She was employed as a librarian at Western Electric’s former Lexington Road plant, and became a full-time homemaker after the birth of her two sons.

As a longtime member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where she served as membership secretary, and on many church committees, including the pastor-parish relations committee. In her community, she served on the Troop Committee of Boy Scout Troop 400 for over four decades, and was actively involved with other civic groups.

Mrs. Cheek was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of sixty years, Howard Lee “Red” Cheek, and an infant sister, Patricia Jean Clinch. She is survived by two sons, the Reverend Doctor Howard Lee Cheek, Jr., and wife Kathy Braun Cheek and Richard Spencer Cheek, LPN; a sister-in-law, Evie Weston and husband Keith Weston; and, a beloved grandson, Carson Spencer Cheek. The Cheek family would like to express their profound sense of gratitude to Mrs. Cheek’s friend and caregiver, Mrs. Sherry Carlyle, and to family friend, Donna Jones Ezzell.

Funeral services will be conducted at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dianne Marsden officiating. Interment will follow at the church cementery.

The family will receive friends at Cox Needham Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either the General Fund of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 155, Pinnacle, NC, 27043, or Boy Scout Troop 400, at the same address.
