Emma was murdered by George Salem because she refused to marry him. A couple of articles were found in the Springfield Mo. Newsleader while looking up information on the murder of Clara Andrews also in this same cemetery. George was buried in Greenlawn Cemetery in Springfield and you can go to his listing and find out what was entered about him, and some of the story. He murdered her and turned the gun on himself, committing sucicide.
Missouri death certificate # 22523 listed her as female, white, divorced. Bullet wounds of the chest and abdomen. Listed as homicide in her home at. She was shot with the revolver, bullet wounds of heart and lung. Parents Johnathan and Elizabeth [?nreq] Cocking. Informant Elizabeth Cole. W L Harve Funeral Home. Interred in Hazelwood Cemetery July 16, 1932.
