Obituary : Socorro M. Alcantar

Socorro M. Alcantar (Coco) was born on April 20, 1942, in Santa Rosa, Calif., and went to the Lord Jan. 28, 2012, surrounded by her sisters, numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Genaro and Maria Alcantar, who will receive her in heaven with open arms, plus her brother, Javier, and sisters, Minnie and Alice.

Tia Coco loved playing games, especially poker and lotteria, which was played with money. Coincidently, guess who took it all, her. Somehow she always won, guess it was just luck. Coco was loved by so many of her nephews and nieces and her family. She had suffered from diabetes and most recently her heart condition.

She is survived by her four sisters, Carmen, Guadalupe, Connie, and Mary Louise (Licho); two brothers, John and Henry. She loved to take pictures of everyone that she came across, her nickname was Valdez. She loved watching the Los Angeles Dodgers play and also The Price is Right.

Memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Camino del Sol Funeral Home, 200 North C St., Oxnard.
