Cody, Mrs. Mary, Feb. 27, 1895, aged 75 yrs., at her son's resid., W. J. Cody, 52 Washburne ave., relict of the late James Cody Esq., Cashel, Co. Tipperary. She was the mother of Cornelius Cody of San Francisco, a dry goods merchant, John of this city, and late Surgeon, Maj. T. Cody, Bombay medical staff, E.I.P. Her son, Michael Cody adventured many years ago to the Australian gold fields, where his ambition was rewarded by the accumulation of great wealth. She had two daughters, Mary and Maggie. The first was a nun of the Presentation Order in Clonmel, and the second was a resident of Chicago. Her husband, was land agent to several large properties in Co. Tipperary. The great popularity of her husband with the tenantry with whom he had dealings was in large measure attributable to the boundless benevolence of the deceased lady who often advanced from her private resources to needy tenants the amount of rents they were unable to pay and which inconsiderate landlords compelled her husband to collect. She nobly assisted her humane husband in the duties of a position which in times of distress was unpleasant and perilous in Tipperary. Funeral from Holy Family Church to Calvary.
