MILTON WESLEY COLEMAN Was born in Port Gibson, Mississippi in 1932. Milton passed away Friday, February 25, 2005. He was baptized at an early age at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Gary, IN under Rev. William H. Thomas. Milton, affectionately known as "Steve" in high school, graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1950 where he played varsity football. Upon graduation, he moved to Chicago and married Mercealea Leggett. From this union came 4 children. Milton also served in the Air Force and participated in the 1963 Civil Rights March on Washington. Milton worked for Ford Motor Company for 30 years where he was actively involved with UAW's Labor Relations, Civil Rights and Equal Application Committees. Milton was preceded in death by his wife and his sister, Clara Coleman Goode. Services will be held at Gatlings Funeral Home, 10133 S. Halsted, Chicago, IL, (773) 881-4111, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery, 12300 S. Kedzie. Repast will follow immediately after burial at Gatling Funeral Home.
