Mary Ellen Boyle, 92, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born September 16, 1921, a daughter of the late Louis and Marcella (Schnier) Collier.
Mary Ellen was a 1939 graduate of Withrow High School in Cincinnati and attended the University of Cincinnati for two years. Mary Ellen was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and a former member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Cambridge City. She was also a member of the Henry County Hospital Auxiliary and the YMCA. Mary Ellen had traveled the world extensively, most recently in South Africa.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Sorrell (husband: Greg Calhoun) of New Castle; her son, Steve Boyle (wife: Lisa Hickman) of Ridgway, Colorado; a granddaughter, Melissa Batson of Fairfield, Ohio; a sister, Betty Farrell of Vista, California; two nieces and two nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Boyle; a brother, Louis Collier and a nephew, John Collier.
