Mary Jane Carnine, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died Tuesday, January 1, 2002, at White River Lodge. Born on October 25, 1921, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Burt and Mary F. (Chaney) Collier. She married Robert L. Carnine on May 24, 1945, and he died December 11, 1987.

Surviving are one daughter, Merilee Ann Cameron of Santa Fe, NM; and two grandchildren, Jeremy Emmons and Bethany Emmons, both of Santa Fe, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Katherine Lewis; and two brother, Guy P. and Nelson P. Collier.

She was an accountant and a 1939 graduate of Mitchell High School. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Fleur de Lis, and Gamma Epsilon Associate Chapter of Tri Kappa.

Services for Mary Carnine will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 4th, at Chastain Funeral Home with Bros. John Brumfield and Mike Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery.
