She was the mother of four girls and three boys: Samuel Henry, John Erastus, Benjamin Franklin, Dorcas Mary, Elizabeth Antoinette, Susan Harriet and Hettie Maria Close. Nancy was also the stepmother of four children from Samuel's first marriage - Sarah, Marinda, William and Eliza Ann Close. Nancy was the daughter of John Collier and Grizelda (Taylor) Collier. She died at age 65.
