Daphine Wilkerson Padgett-Collins, our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and dear friend to many, took her journey to heaven on September 6, 2015. She was born on February 11, 1922 in Chiefland, FL. She will truly be missed.

Daphine was a member of First Christian Church for the past 28 years. She served as a Deacon, active in the Women’s Group and her beloved Thursday night Bible Study. She cooked, served, visited the sick, called to encourage anyone she thought might need a kind word and a prayer. She was a Daughter of the Nile, Khem Temple no. 85. She was an avid bridge player and earned her Master’s in American Contract Bridge League. She was a devoted homemaker and after raising her family she went on to work for Sears. She retired from Sears as a Credit Supervisor after 20 years of service.

She is predeceased by her first husband, Arthur S. Padgett, who passed away in 1985; and her second husband, Thomas J. Collins, Jr., who passed in 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Patsy Padgett Hartsfield (Keith); son, Arthur S. Padgett, Jr.; grandchildren, Keith M. Hartsfield, III. (Dawn), Kim Hartsfield Wallace (Mike), Kathy Hartsfield Garrett (Malone), Leigh Padgett Grady (Kathryn), Dana Padgett Olson (Craig), Candice Padgett Preston; 13 great grandchildren and very special nieces and nephews from her beloved late brothers. Daphine is also survived by a very special and loving extended family from her marriage to T.J. Collins, daughters, Avis Beniot and Carol Anne Burton (Steve) and their children and grandchildren who knew her only as Grandma Collins.

Her family would like to thank everyone in her church family and care givers that loved and cared for her as her health began to fail her. We are grateful.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15 from 11 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at noon in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd. Jacksonville, FL. Memorials in Daphine’s name may be made to First Christian Church, 11924 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32223
