Rev. Aaron Condit was pastor of Hanover's First Presbyterian Church for 35 years. Born in nearby Orange, NJ, he was the son of Samuel Condit, a farmer and devout member of the First Presbyterian Church of Orange, and his first wife, the former Mary Smith. Like his father, Rev. Condit was twice wed. He married his first wife, Mary Dayton, (nicknamed "Polly") on April 28, 1794, in Morristown, NJ. She predeceased him, and on December 12, 1822, Rev. Condit remarried at age 57, taking Sarah Conkling as his second wife. He was 86 years old at the time of his death.
