Mary Bridget Cadigan (nee Connolly) aged 82, died on July 19 at her daughter's home in Dedham, MA of the effects of Alzheimer's Disease.

She was the wife of William J. Cadigan, mother of Mary Clare (Patrick Lynch), Catharine M. (Mark Ostermann), Anne T. (Michael Gaziano), Sheila E., William J. (Beth Wood), and Eileen P. (Raphael Brasseur).

She was a devoted and loving Nana to Michaela, Dante, and Liam Gaziano, Isla and Terra Brazier, Joey Lynch, Cecilia and Nadia Brasseur, and Billy Cadigan.

Known as "Sis" to her family, she was the dear sister of Martin Connolly (Nancy), Rita (the late John) McNally, Kathleen (the late Donald) Lux, and Michael (Nancy) Connolly, the late Eleanor (Michael) Brennan, and the late Betty (Robert) Wulf. Daughter of Bartley and Mary (Finnegan) Connolly from County Galway, Ireland.

Loving niece, cousin, and aunt to her large extended family.

Mary was raised on the South Side, graduating from Saint Margaret of Scotland grammar school in 1945 and Longwood Academy in 1949.

Mary and Bill moved to Arlington Heights in 1960 where they raised their family and were active members of Saint James Parish for 49 years.

They moved to Resurrection Retirement Community in 2009.

Mary had a lifelong devotion to caring for the homeless and worked for many years as a volunteer for homeless assistance groups, including Saint James Church, the People's Church in Uptown, Chicago, and the Hope Center in Palatine where she was a member of the Board.

She was a founding member of the Hope Center and was an Outstanding Community Member and Volunteer in 2006.

The visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights.

The funeral will begin at the funeral home on Friday, July 25, 2014, with Prayers at 10:15 AM proceeding to St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Committal service 1:45 PM, graveside at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Worth, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Journeys from PADS to HOPE, 1140 E. Northwest Hwy. Palatine, IL 60074.
