"TODDSVILLE ... After a lingering illness of over four years, Mrs. Jane Cleary, aged eighty-six years, passed away on Saturday, March 25th, at 1:10 p. m. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church on Tuesday at 9:30 a. m., where a solemn requiem mass was said for the repose of her soul. Interment in St. Mary's cemetery at Index. Mrs. Jane Conolly Cleary, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Conolly, was born in Dublin, June 18, 1852, and came to this country about fifty years ago. She resided at the House of Providence, where she was employed as a seamstress until she was united in marriage to Michael Cleary of Toddsville in 1920. Mr. Cleary died March 28, 1933. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Annie Malone, of Dublin, Ireland; six step-children: Mrs. Margaret Louden, Whitesboro; Mrs. Ceylon Smallin, Waterville; Mrs. Harry Smith, Davenport; Mrs. James Dunne, Syracuse; John Cleary, Utica, and Joseph Cleary, Toddsville, with whom she made her home since the death of her husband. Mrs. Cleary was a deeply religious woman, a devout Catholic, and a kind and sympathetic neighbor. She had been an invalid for a number of years, and had been confined to her bed over four years. Her passing is mourned by many, though those that loved her feel that she is at rest at last, and happy with God, whom she served so faithfully."
