Long time resident and 1949 graduate of Whittier High School Marlene Brown (Conway), age 80, passed into eternal life at Walnut Villa on February 5, 2012 after a lengthy fight with Alzheimer's. On July 14, 1931 Marlene was born in Des Moines, Iowa and soon afterwards her family moved to Southern California. One of 5 children, she is survived by sisters Dorothy Schaper of Orange, CA and Nola Jean Rulon of Loveland, CO.
Marlene married Alfred Eugene (Gene) Brown her high school sweetheart and for 62 years traveled a successful and loving earthly path together. Marlene and Genes children and their spouses, Linda (Brown) and Barry Bezanson , Patricia (Brown) and Andrew Gazso and Brian and Diane Brown all reside in Southern California. Marlene and Gene were blessed with 5 grandchildren Jamie & Drew Gazso, Austin, Trevor, & Cheyenne Brown. Marlene was taken to her final resting place at Rose Hills Memorial Park on February 11, 2012 by her loving husband Gene along with family members and friends. - Whittier Daily News Feb. 17, 2012
