Ethel M. Brasche, 74, of Springfield died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Medical Center. She was born May 11, 1918, in Mechanicsburg, the daughter of Arthur S. and Katie L. Herman Cook. She married William E. Brasche Sr. in 1939; he died in 1968. Also preceding her in death were a son, Gerald W. Brasche Sr., and a great-grandson.
Mrs. Brasche was the former owner and operator of Humpty Dumpty Nursery and Brasche Day Care. She was a former member of Harvard Park Baptist Church, VFW Post 755 Ladies Auxiliary and AARP.
Surviving are two daughters, Pat Bea and Carolyn L. "Carol" Swettman, both of Springfield; a son, William E. of Springfield; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Herbert (Olive Ann) Lee of Illiopolis; two brothers, Archie Cook of Illiopolis and Harry Cook of Mount Auburn; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services at Staab Funeral Home, with the Rev. William E. Keep officiating. Burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
