Charles Cook, age 83, left this Earth to be with Jesus on Tuesday afternoon.
Charles was born in Augusta to the late A.D. Cook, Sr. and Gwendolyn Heath Cook. He proudly served in the United States Navy having fought in the Korean War. He was decorated with the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the China Service Medal. He continued serving his country as an employee with Robins Air Force Base retiring after more than 30 years of employment. Charles traveled the country competing in bowling tournaments and spent his time at home as a beekeeper. He was an instrumental founding member and Deacon Emeritus of Unity Baptist Church in Lizella.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Brianna Cook; brother, A.D. Cook, Jr.; and sister, Betty Cook.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Thursday at Crest Lawn.
A graveside service will take place 2:00 P.M. Friday in New Elim Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Jeff Powell will officiate. The United States Navy will render honors.
