She was born September 29, 1916 in Owaneco, the daughter of Joseph and Minnie Law Cook. On November 19, 1941 she married Harold G Akers in St Charles, MO and he preceded her in death on December 30, 1985. She was a homemaker, member of the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville and the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her son: David (wife Georgeann) Akers of Evansville, IN, grandchildren: Cheri (husband Joseph)Stratman of Evansville, IN, Lauri (husband Craig) Egli of Cynthiana, IN, Rachel Akers of Cincinnati, OH, great grandchildren: Sean Elgi, Kane Stratman, Anna Stratman and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: John Cook and sisters: Dorothy Crites and Bernice Griffiths.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30pm Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Morrisonville Cemetery with Pastor Charlie Sward officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00am until 1:00pm at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville.
