Services for Laura E. Boehler of Willamina will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Willamina Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall. The Rev. Dennis Morley of the Willamina First Christian Church will officiate.

Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery, south of Amity.

Arrangements are under the direction of Macy & Son Funeral Directors, McMinnville. The funeral home will be open for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today.

Mrs. Boehler died Sept. 14, 2001, in Salem Hospital. She was 87.

Born July 14, 1914, in Salem, she was the daughter of James E. and Elizabeth Rudolph Cook. She grew up and went to school in Elk City, Spring Valley and Independence. She attended nursing school in Tucson, Ariz.

She married Carl Boehler.

After their marriage, the Boehlers lived in Iowa, then returned to Oregon and lived in Bethel. They moved to Willamina in 1946.

Mrs. Boehler worked as a waitress and cook for several restaurants in the Grand Ronde, Sheridan and Willamina areas. She volunteered for many years at the Sheridan Senior Referral Office.

She was chairwoman of the Willamina Fourth of July parade and later was grand marshal. She volunteered for many other affairs.

Mrs. Boehler was a member of the Willamina First Christian Church, the American Association of Retired Persons and the Willamina Rebekkah Lodge. She was past president of the Willamina VFW Auxiliary and past VFW Auxiliary district president.

She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting and playing bingo.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Hamilton of Forest Grove; three sons, Paul Boehler of Willamina, David Boehler of Salem and James "Buzz" Boehler of Aloha; two sisters, Helen Kinsey of Eugene and Bertha Durkey of California; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981 and by four brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to heart surgery programs in care of Macy & Son, 135 N.E. Evans St., McMinnville, OR 97128.
