Mr. Cooke was born in New York City Jan. 15, 1931, son of the late Arthur Cooke and Florence (McAdam) Cooke Hepp. He attended Crosby High School and Post College and was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He retired in 1996 from the Summit Corp. of America in Thomaston where he worked as a salesman for more than 33 years.
Mr. Cooke was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Oakville VFW Post No. 7330, and the Wolcott American Legion Post 0165. Mr. Cooke is survived by his children, Gary F. Cooke and his wife, Cyndi, of Mooresville, Ind., Deborah Cooke Matarazzo and her husband, John, of Old Lyme, Quinn Cooke of Los Angeles, Calif., Gretchen Cooke Burksa of Cheshire, and Adam Cooke and his wife, Anke, of Plainville; and six grandchildren, Jason and Jesse Matarazzo, Kelsey Cooke, Scotty Burksa, and Gavin and Nolan Cooke.
Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St. Burial with military honors will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
