Mrs. Compton was born in Red Bluff on March 18, 1881. When she was six years old her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Coon, moved to Durham and established their home. In 1902 she and the late Luman Compton were married in Oroville. Until retirement they had engaged in the cattle business.
Mrs. Compton was a member of the Alta Rebekah Lodge of Durham and was a charter member of the Durham Grange. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Effie D. Coon of Durham; a son, Norman L. Compton of Lemon Grove; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Knudsen of Roseville; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A son, Harry Compton, preceded her in death in 1945.
Rev. James O. Miller of Durham will officiate at the services. Interment will be in the Chico Cemetery beside her husband who died in 1951. Members of the Alta Rebekah Lodge are asked to attend the services in a body."
