Mrs. Stephen H. Cooper
The death of Mrs. Eleanor Cooper, widow of the late Stephen H. Cooper, of lentsvile, occurred Saturday evening at 9:15 o'clock at the home of her son, George W. Cooper, in Cooperstown, where she had received loving care for thepast three months. Mrs. Cooper passed through an attack of influenza last fall and since that time her condition had gradually weakened.
Mrs. Cooper was the daughter of Sebastian and Eleanor (Fox) Barrett and she was born in jefferson, Schoharie County, March 6, 1855. Her marriage to Mr. Cooper took place in February 1876. For thirteen years they made their home in the town of Springfield, but the rest of her long and useful life was passed in middlefield. Mr. Cooper died March 28, 1932. She was a woman who was held in the highest esteem in the entire community and a wide circle of friends will feel a keen sense of personal regret in her passing.
Surviving, besides the son mentioned, are two sisters, Mrs. Rosanne Utter of Middlefield Center and mrs. Lucinda Smith of East Worcester; two brothers, Elmer Barrett of Lentsville and Charles Barrett of East Worceter; five grandchildren, George W. Cooper, Jr., and miss Odessa Cooper of this village, miss Gladys hanor of Englewood, N.j., Mrs. Agnes Swartfager and guy Hanorof Rome, together with several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held from the Cooper home at No. 72 Fair street, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Herbert M. Pease, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating, and burial was made in the cemetery at Hartwick Seminary.
