Gladys Copley Tysinger BARRINGER died March 22, 2007, in Topeka, Kan. She was born on March 25, 1920, the daughter of the late Caleb and Viola (Hill) Copley. She spent her early years in Rougemont and lived in Durham until 1999, when she moved to Topeka, Kan.

She was an honors graduate of Mangum High School, Bahama, and Raleigh School of Commerce. She was Personnel Director for Mead Container Corporation in Durham before retiring in 1982. She was an active member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Durham and the Faith Lutheran Church, Topeka, Kan.

Mrs. BARRINGER was an avid gardener and a member of the Dogwood Garden Club. She was an international traveler and enjoyed the camaraderie of her Just for Fun Travel Club friends. Gladys was a great mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She never hesitated to help family, friends or those in need.

She married Elmo L. Tysinger in 1941. He died in 1961. She later married John BARRINGER and he died in 1983. She was preceded in death by brothers Clarence Ray and Julius Copley.

Survivors include her sons, Ron Tysinger (Delbra), Roswell, Ga., and Phil Tysinger (Linda), Topeka, Kan.; grandsons, Jon Tysinger (Melissa), Charlotte and David Tysinger (Dinah), Panama City, Fla.; a granddaughter, Erin Snethen (Zach), Topeka, Kan.; and sisters, Hazel Cooper, Raleigh, and Betty Thompson, Wake Forest.

The family will receive friends to honor and celebrate her life at Clements Funeral Home, Durham, NC, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2007.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at the Clements Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
