Mrs. Catano, 85, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Heartland Nursing Center in Artesia.
Mrs. Catano was born February 19, 1925 in Ruidosa, Texas; the daughter of Juan Nieves Corrales and Maria (Aguilar) Corrales.
She came to Artesia in 1947 from Texas. On January 20, 1952 she was married to Moises L. Catano in Artesia. He preceded her in death June 20, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother Joe Corrales.
Maria was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Apostolado, Legion of Mary, Cursillistas, and a Foster Grandparent for the Head Start program in Artesia.
Survivors include daughter Elva Lucero of Las Cruces, N.M.; brother Marcelino Corrales of Las Cruces; sisters Elisa Corrales of Artesia, and Jane Rosales of Roswell, N.M.; grandchildren Daniel and Israel Lucero of Las Cruces; great-grandchildren Aleesha and Alyssa Lucero of Las Cruces
