Charles Dean "Chuck" Cram , 70, of Marion, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, due to complications of COPD. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion by Pastor Gregory Williamson. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion and one hour before the service at the church. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lois Thompson and Katherine Grier; two brothers-in-law, Kenny Thompson and Mark Grier; and a great-niece, Elizabeth Feltes.

Charles was born June 27, 1938, to Clarence and Oma (Shaull) Cram , in North English. He graduated from Millersburg High School in 1956. Charles served with the U.S. Navy from 1956-1959 and was honorably discharged in 1963. He worked for Collins Radio from 1959 until his retirement in 1994 as a quality assurance specialist. In 1960, Charles married Shirley Roberts; later divorced in 1979. In 1983, he was married to Hiltrude Nielson. Charles was a friend of Bill W. for 26 years.

Charles was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren and looked on them as the light of his life. He continued to work on the family farm throughout his life.
