Charles Warren Cram M.D. was the tenth child of Stephen Batchelder and Judith Robinson Cram of Deerfield, New Hampshire. He was a graduate of Shirting Medical College and Bellevue Hospital Medical College, New York; served as chief surgeon to the Ohio penitentiary for several years; practiced his profession in Columbus, Ohio; Haverhill, Mass.; Scranton, Penn.; and Davenport, Iowa. He was well-known for his success in practice, and as a writer for medical journals. In 1867, he married Miss Clara Deming of Columbus, Ohio. They had two sons: Ralph Warren and Charles Edwin.
