Claudia was the daughter of famed engineer and tunnel-builder Claudius Crozet.

She and Charles married in Richmond on 15 October 1839. They had at least seven children: Nicholas (named after her father-in-law), Adele (named after her sister), Charles, Charles S., Claudia, and two newborn infants.

She died age 73 at 312 N. 12th Street of "Nervous Exhaustion", per Cemetery records. Her grave in her father-in-law's plot, next to her husband and near many of her children, her mother and her siblings, is unmarked.
