Littleton-

Mattie Ree Cullom Adkins, 96, died Friday, June 12, 2015, at her residence on Kyle Road.

She was born March 1, 1919, in Halifax County to the late William George Cullom and Eliza Pittard Cullom. Mattie was retired from the Department of Social Services and was a member of Quankie Baptist Church. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Club and the Senior Citizens Bowling League. In addition to her parents, Mattie was preceded in death by her special granddaughters, Susan Annette Sparks and Wendy Lee Medlin.

Surviving are her daughters, Linda Ann Medlin of Roanoke Rapids, Lois Dean Mills and husband, Charles Edward, Ellen Cullom Phillips, both of Rocky Mount and Sharon Lupton and husband, Jim of Roanoke Rapids; sons Julius Raymond Adkins, Jr. of Littleton and Thomas M. Adkins of Angier; special friend, O’Dell Harrington and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and nine great -great grandchildren.

Revs. Billy Hardwick and Ray McDonald will conduct funeral services at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service Monday, June 15, 2015 at 11:00 am with interment to follow at Quankie Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 9:30 am, also at the funeral home.
