Virginia Allen, 79, of Columbus died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, May 3, 2009 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Duncan officiating. A private interment will be held in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Saturday evening from 5-7 PM at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Mrs. Allen was born December 29, 1929 in Bristol, VA daughter of the late Ethel Mae Katron Cunningham and Robert Edward Cunningham. She was a homemaker and a member of Beallwood Baptist Church where she was active in Sunday School. She was also a member of Friends Forever.
Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Allen, Jr, step mother Helen O. Cunningham and sister Helen Wittig. Survivors include her daughter Karen Simms of Columbus, GA; sons John Allen of Columbus, GAand Michael Bartley of Carrollton, TX; four grandchildren Kevin Bartley, Bobby Simms, Blake Simms and Susie Simms; three great grandchildren Jacob Simms, Breana Simms and Jocelyn Simms and several nieces and nephews.
