Yvonne Currier Clifton , 71, died peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital after years of courageous struggle with myriad disabilities. She lived independently until three weeks ago. She acknowledged her doctors, Ray Forbes, M.D., and Jerry Clausen, M.D., and the love of family and friends for achieving joy in life. On her road from athlete to inspiration, her humor and knowledge inspired many. She was proud of her 23-year contribution to the national poetry journal, The Comstock Review.
She is survived by her daughters, Kim (Scott) Nightengale of Cato, NY , and Cheryl LaMay of Weedsport; grandchildren, Megan, Scott and Robbie (Jennifer) Nightengale and Michael (Rachel), Jennifer and Katie LaMay (Kyle); and great- grandchildren, Dylan and Madeline. She is also survived by her chosen sisters, Jennifer MacPherson, Peggy Flanders, Joan Seabrook and Priscilla Edwards, all of CNY, and Kathleen Bryce Niles and Debi Overton of WNY.
Memorial service to be held at First Unitarian Universalist Society, 109 Waring Road, Syracuse , NY , at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 10
