Enlisted in Delavan, Wisconsin with 22nd Wisconsin Volunteers on August 15, 1862, Rank Private.
Discharged at end of War in Nashville, Tenn on June 13, 1865, Rank Private
Married: wife's mame - Marrieta, living in Milwaukee
Occupation: Cooper
Religion: Protestant
Applied and granted a disability pension of $4 per month, due to Rheumatism.
Was first admitted to the North-Western Branch of National Home for the Disabled Volunteer Soldiers on August 3, 1888 and was discharged at his own request on July 21, 1892. He was readmitted on April 2, 1894 and died while on furlough Dec 9th, 1896.
(Note the different dates of death as provided by the Veteran's Affairs and the NW Branch of National Home.)
Norma has found that the order for the headstone did, indeed, show that Pvt Cutler died on Dec 9th, 1896. The
headstone Company made a mistake that has went unnoticed
until now.
