A long time resident of Mequon, entered into Eternal Life on Tuesday September 3, 2013 at the age of 91 years. Sam was born in Philadelphia, PA, on October 1, 1921, the cherished son of Edward Clifford Cutler and Frances (nee Ray) Cutler. He attended Germantown Academy in Germantown, PA and graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Amherst College in Amherst, MA, Class of 1943. Sam proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during WWII.

For many years Sam worked at The Grande women's clothing store, managing the Wauwatosa, Whitefish Bay, and eventually Mitchell Street locations. Later, he was a consultant for Goldman's Department Store and Hangers Unlimited Corp. He served as president of the Mequon/Thiensville Senior Art League, thoroughly enjoying teaching water color painting as well. Sam tirelessly volunteered at the Rite-Hite YMCA where he was twice honored as Volunteer of the Year. He was very active and served on the board of Hill Point Church in River Hills, formerly Mayflower Church. Sam was a constant presence in the Bible study group, Faithwalkers. Remaining active into his late 80's, he was a master croquet player at the Milwaukee Croquet Club.

Sam was the beloved husband for 48 years of the late Betty Jean (nee Krauthoefer). Beloved father of Pamela (Dr. Stephen) Abram and Samuel (Linda) Cutler, Jr. Proud grandfather of Daniel (Jennifer Mastripolito) Abram, Eden (Matthew Boyd) Abram and Bryn (Joseph) Wagner; great-grandfather of Ben and Cece Mastripolito and Claire and Ben Wagner. Dear brother of the late Ted (the late Kitty) Cutler. Further survived by other loving relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at HILL POINT CHURCH, 2500 W. Brown Deer Rd. in River Hills, on Saturday, September 14, from 10 AM until 10:45 AM with the celebration of Sam's life beginning at 11 AM. Inurnment will be private at Forest Home Cemetery. Memorials in Sam's name may be directed to the Rite-Hite YMCA, 9250 N Green Bay Rd, Brown Deer, WI 53209 or a charity of your choice.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Froedtert Cancer Center and Horizon Hospice for the loving care given to Sam.
