Capac
Harvey P. Dafoe, 91, of Capac, Michigan, died November 10, 2008 in Glendale, Arizona.
He was born June 10, 1917 in Fremont Township, son of the late Jesse and Edna Dafoe. He married Gladys L. Perry on April 11, 1939 in the home of her parents.

A member of Trinity Missionary Church, Yale, Michigan, he at various times served as Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee, and Chairman of the Church Board. He also served on the denomination's General Board and Missions Board as well as its Michigan District Executive Board. In addition, he served on the Yale and the Capac School Boards.

For over thirty years Harvey and Gladys made their home on a farm near Capac where he raised beef cattle and grain after a successful career as a building contractor. Each year he looked forward to the hunting and fishing seasons and his days at the one-room log cabin he built with his partners near Seney, Michigan.

For guests, the highlight of a visit was Harvey's habit of reciting random bits of poetry (and doggerel) by the gas lamps after dinner.

He is survived by Gladys, his wife of 69 years; a daughter, Ruth Dafoe Hoane and husband Joseph of Verona, NJ and two sons, Ralph and wife Connie of Santa Fe, NM and Gerald and wife Linda of Morristown, AZ.

He is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren as well as one sister, Wanda Engel of Zephyr Hills, FL.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Sheryle Anne and Winifred Joy, a brother, Lloyd Dafoe, and a sister, Opal Bricker.

Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Wickenburg, AZ on Friday, November 14.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mission Aviation Fellowship, PO Box 47, Nampa, ID 83653 or a charity of your choice.
